Selling these horses and ponies is the most challenging part of this adventure! The majority of those raised here trace directly back to Alana’s dad’s original herd that was purchased in 1966. His goal was that all kids should have a chance to ride really quality ponies. The ones he picked had amazing imported pedigrees, were incredibly athletic, smart and really fun. Alana didn’t realize that all ponies aren’t that way until she was much older! She grew up being able to recite their pedigrees, and knew their quirks and stories. They truly are like family! They have been by her side competing in multiple disciplines, being fabulous working ranch ponies, producing beautiful prospects as well as providing healing as Equine Assisted Learning gurus. Alana has had advice from multiple experts on playing the breeding game, and she choose the breed she would like buy – sound, athletic, healthy ponies and horses that enjoy being horses and connecting with people. Our horses and ponies are raised and kept in a herd, learning social skills from other horses, as well as learning how to navigate sand hill terrain and being exposed to various other species (ATVs, tractors, deer, moose, coyotes, small children, dogs, etc.) which sets them up for success in their careers later in life. The mares foal on grass with herd members helping out and proudly bring their babies to meet me. A couple of years ago I started to experiment with weaning naturally and allowing the foals to approach me when they were ready. Not only are the foals healthier and happier, they are confident, friendly and accepting of humans with a gentle willingness that is so beautiful!

All that being said, being a breeding operation, that means that some of them have the share their magic in new homes. Alana supports them in excelling in their new careers, ranging from working ranch ponies to hunter/jumper/dressage and eventing to combined driving to weekend warrior pleasure ponies to therapy experts. The goal is to place them in homes that appreciate their value. It is important to meet the new owners and spend some time with both making acquaintances. Any ponies originating from here always have an opportunity to come home as well.

Profiles

Finesse colt

Mi (no name yet) palomino 1/2 Welsh colt

Mi Farmers Tan x Mi Finesse

This fancy golden boy is cheeky, brave and very fancy. I’m unsure if he will retain his slightly curly coat, but right now he looks like brushed velvet. He should mature a medium (likely right around 13.1hh) and with his athleticism should shine in any role you wish.

Mi Tir Na Nog

Mi Tir Na Nog – 2007 buckskin Section D Welsh Cob gelding
Mi Bare Essentials x Mi Dark Krystal
Teirney is very special to me as he is the last of his bloodline that started my love for Welsh Cobs. His grand dam Brynarian Nia was purchased when I outgrew my Section A geldingTwinkle. Nia had 4 fillies ranging from 13.2-16hh (fullsisters, matching color and markings but definitely not size). As far as I know, Krystal was the only one that produced purebred offspring, Mi Higher Power and Mi Midas Touch went on to be breeding stallions, and the fillies went out to either be performance ponies or breeding stock. Teirney being stocky but on the smaller side, was started, a few times, almost found new homes, but kept choosing to remain here. He is a solid leading rein pony, very tolerant of beginners and mistakes, and prefers to stop to figure things out instead of implementing the flight response, or find and adult to help in situations he is unsure of. Because he generally gets to hangout with me teaching beginners, he hasn’t spent a lot of time outside the arena, but will follow a buddy anywhere. He is lower in pecking order in any herd he has been in, and seems to enjoy having someone else make decisions. He has an enormous walk, and very swingy trot, his canter has rarely been played with. He is sweet over small jumps and obstacles and is fine on his own or in the company of other horses. He is used to cattle, dogs, quads, tractors and wildlife. I have had him ridden in bitless bridle or simple snaffle or mullin happy mouth, he is happy in any of those and goes bareback or with a saddle and has had student perform exercises and backflips (intentional) on him. His major quirk is that he can play hard to catch, but is very motivated by food. He is also uncomfortable around incongruous people, if you are scared and trying to pretend your body ace, or angry pretending to be friendly he gets worried. He is fine with honest emotions and a very generous cuddler in EAL sessions especially with people who often struggle to be noticed. His training has been sporadic and the buttons installed are very basic (which prevents confusion when being ridden by beginners) but he is a very fast learner that loves to please. Teirney is healthy and sound but does have a tendency to be on the round side.

Mia filly

Unnamed so far – 2023 buckskin 3/4 Welsh 1/4 Mustang filly
Cobblehill Geordie x Mi Why Not Me

Mia is always very proud to present her new babies to meet me. It appears that she may have given birth in one of the many cactus patches and unfortunately this beautiful filly lost her left eye. She has adapted well, and her yearling full sister Kachina rarely leaves her side. She nice this limits her future as a performance pony, I have made the decision to retain her as a future EAL for art net and possible broodmare. She is extremely sweet, very athletic and beautiful.

Sky

Mi Kiss The Sky – 2022 ⅞ Welsh ⅛ TB palomino filly

Cobblehill Geordie x Mi Romantic Edition
This fancy filly is sweet, curious and very athletic. Currently she is playing “aunty” to this years babies. She should mature in the 14.1-2hh range.

Kosmos

Mi Kosmos – 2022 chestnut Section D Welsh Cob colt

Cobblehill Geordie x Mi Vermillion Skye

Kosmos is a full brother to Jorgia Rain and maturing to be very similar in temperament (they would make a stunning driving pair but I promised Jorgia she could stay). He is confident, kind , very curious, athletic and has been learning from the lesson herd. He looks like he will mature between 14.2 and 15hh. With his powerful bloodlines, I would love to see him become a breeding stallion. His beautiful chestnut color with lots of bling makes him stand out in a crowd. He is healthy, sound and ready to start learning new skills.

Pedigree

Kachina

Mi Kachina Doll – 2022 buckskin ¾ Welsh ¼ Mustang filly

Originally I have planned on retaining Kachina for myself but was gifted a beautiful full sister this year and I can’t justify keeping both. She is a beautiful buttermilk buckskin and has a very kind spirit and is extremely athletic. Her dams full brother Mi Kindred Spirit and the family genes are very strong!

Pedigree

Feather

2018 grade Medicine Hat Pinto mare

Feather is super smart, responsive, athletic and very sweet. She loves to interact with humans and show her cleverness. She is ready to start her “formal” education now that she is a bit more mature. Healthy, sound, beautiful and brave. And legend has it that horses with this unique marking had magical powers to protect their riders from injury and death in battle and warn their riders of danger. Feather also has one brown and one blue eye that enhances her unique appearance!

Mickey

Mickey – 2009 grade bay gelding

Mickey takes his role as a protective uncle very seriously, the rest of the time he provides comic relief. However, I know very little about his past before he came here. He is affectionate, bold and very clever on the ground. Loves doing groundwork, obstacles and playing games. I am guessing that at some point something bad happened under saddle (I have been on him bareback and he “almost” relaxed but has a very strong panic button with the saddle. With his smaller stature and type (appears part Arab) I would prefer he goes to a home that includes EAL and realizes that he may not become a safe beginner mount.

Pixie

Mi Take My Picture – 2007 ¾ Welsh ¼ TB bay mare

Pixie took over the role of herd sentinel from her mother. She notices everything and is aware of threats and incongruencies (often snorting to get her point across!) She is kind and sweet when she chooses and give the best hugs

Datsun

2017 black dun grade gelding

Datsun arrived in our lives with a less than stellar reputation and has done a complete switch from a defensive, angry boy to an affectionate, respectful, willing pony. He loves grooming, and is a very quick learner! He is ready to have further education to become a lovely performance pony or he has shown incredible skills as a communicator in the EAL sessions he has taken part in.

Nissan

2010 chestnut grade mare

Nissan is sweet, bold and fancy. Nissan has taught beginner lessons, however I think she would be happier with her own person as she gets slightly impatient with multiple beginners. She is trained to ride and drives single and double. She did have health issues when she arrived but has been healthy and sound since 2018. She is dam to Mazda so has produced at least one fabulous foal.
